Dear friends. You may have noticed that I have not been posting as much as I usually do. And for that I apologize. If you haven’t noticed, carry on… Disregard the statement above.
You see, February 2012 has not been a good month for me, I am sorry to say. But March is coming and I am sure things will even out. Until then, I would like to celebrate Leap Day by giving you some of the random thoughts I have had over the last month.
- “Words with Friends”, and games in general, may cause some animosity among friends… One of the friends I have been playing WWF with has insinuated that I may not play fairly. Given the number of times I have been beaten by various people I know, I must protest. Since I really like playing this person, it’s all good. But when I was involved in a “cut throat” game of Monopoly a few weeks ago, I have to admit that I will consider carefully who to cross and in what fashion when playing games. “Words with Friends” and “Monopoly” may lead to games like “Words with Enemies” and “Bankruptcy”. And yes, this is really me, Farheen the Sore Loser saying this.
- My two-year old niece told me yesterday that she was checking her email from her Mama… She also works an iPad better than I could and knows how to unlock my smart phone. What is this world coming to? Not that I am super old (I am a child of the mid to late 70’s) but I played with a pink plastic telephone that had a cord and a rotary dial. I also came from one of the last generations where you could roll around the back of a station wagon or jump up and down on the back seat when the vehicle was moving. Perhaps they weren’t the safest of times, but wasn’t life a little simpler?
- I still haven’t overcome my fear of giant holes in the ground, like the Grand Canyon or any kind of quarry. Need to add conquering that fear to my Bucket list, just after I “watch the Cubs win a World Series”.
- I have been thinking about my idea that there is a reverse sort of colonialism going on in the Western World. Many people feel that I am crazy for thinking this but I do have many reasons for having this belief. I will give only one example here and let you draw your own conclusions. There are lots of people who go around spouting things like “If you can’t speak English go home!” or “I hate having to press 1 for English!” Without revealing my personal stance on these things I will say this; when the British were invading India or King Leopold was decimating the Congolese, perhaps the indiginous people were like, “I hate learning to speak English!” or “Curse your Flemish ways! Go back to Belgium!” It didn’t stop the British or the Belgians. History really does repeat itself. I have more on this to come later. But it falls into random February thoughts because I really had no reason that this thought awakened in my mind.
Anyway, this has been the February installment of Random Thoughts. I would really love it if anyone has thoughts on any of this subject material and would comment. If you share it with me, I will reward you richly with a lollipop. Virtual pinky swear.
